One of the best things about having a self-build conservatory<\/a> is the fact that you are near to your garden all year round.\u00a0 Regardless of what the weather is doing you can watch what is happening and see your plants and shrubs developing as the year presses on.<\/p>\n

But there is also the prospect of being able to grow plants inside your self-build conservatory<\/a> as well.\u00a0 While not all plants enjoy the unusual conditions this room presents, some will positively thrive in them.\u00a0 The trick is to plan ahead and make sure you know what you want to have and where you want to have it.<\/p>\n

So to begin, think about the amount of room you have available to cater for plants in your conservatory.\u00a0 Some people are happy to have one or two key plants in strategic places, while others won\u2019t settle until every windowsill has a row of plants on it!<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t just think about plants for surfaces either \u2013 think about plants that could stand on the floor.\u00a0 Citrus trees often do really well in a DIY conservatory<\/a>, and they add a splash of colour as well.<\/p>\n

Needless to say you will have to do your research before you start buying plants for your DIY conservatory<\/a>.\u00a0 Think about the amount of time you have to devote to caring for them as well.\u00a0 If you are pushed for time it is best to start off with just one or two plants, to see how you get on with them.\u00a0 If you have success with them and they start to enjoy the unique conditions presented by your conservatory, you could then think about adding another plant to your collection.<\/p>\n

Planning to add new plants is always a big decision to make, particularly if you have young children.\u00a0 You need to make sure they cannot reach the plants, or at least understand that they are off limits.\u00a0 You also need to think about placement in terms of whether they will enjoy being in direct sunlight or not.\u00a0 Always be prepared to move a new plant around in different places in the DIY conservatory<\/a> when you first buy it.\u00a0 It might prefer a different spot to the one you had in mind for it.<\/p>\n

While it might seem daunting trying to buy the right plants and positioning them in the right place, you will benefit from doing your research.\u00a0 Learn from the experts and read as much as you can about caring for plants in these conditions.<\/p>\n
