Could You Buy Now And Save Money On Your DIY Conservatory?

A DIY conservatory is a very desirable thing to have added to your home.  But as most of us know, it is also an expensive addition – and not all of us have the available funds to get the experts in to deliver, construct and finish it for us.

This is one of the main reasons why so many people are turning to DIY conservatories.  Building one yourself might sound daunting but if you have good DIY skills you might be surprised at how much cash you can save.  When you think about the labour costs involved in getting the professionals to build one for you, you’ll see there are significant savings to be made.

But this is a particularly good time to think about adding that new DIY conservatory onto your home.  This is because of the VAT rise which is going to take place at the beginning of January.  That’s when VAT will go up by 2.5%, from 15% to 17.5% – and even though 2.5% may not sound like much it can save you a lot on your self-build conservatory.

The cost of a self-build conservatory varies greatly depending on the design and requirements you have.  Every extra feature you want will cost extra.  But let’s suppose you are spending £5,000 on a reasonably basic model that you are going to install yourself.  Now let’s look at the VAT angle.  If we work out what 2.5% is of that £5,000 amount, we are left with a figure of £125.  That’s a good saving – and it could be put towards flooring or furniture for your new room.

As you can see, if you can plan to buy your new self-build conservatory now and install it fairly soon too, you could save a lot of money in the process.  And since it is getting ever closer to the day when the VAT amount will go up, time is of the essence when it comes to choosing what you want.

Be sure that you don’t rush the process though.  Make sure you cover every angle and you choose just the right self-build conservatory for your needs.  Buying from a trade company will save you money too, so all in all this could be a great way to get the conservatory you want at just the right price.

And if you are organised enough, you might even be able to sit in your new conservatory and enjoy a nice Easter dinner in there too!
