It might not seem to be the best time of year to do it. But it has some distinct advantages that you may not have considered.
For starters the idea of standing out in the freezing cold trying to put a conservatory together yourself is probably sticking out in your mind. But in actual fact we often get much milder winters nowadays, so unless you are really unlucky the weather may not be as much of a problem as you might think.
In addition to this most people want their new DIY conservatory to be ready to enjoy for the summer months. But how about enjoying the start of spring? Once January and February are out of the way it would be wonderful to have your DIY conservatory ready and waiting to be enjoyed. And of course, if you install good heating and your conservatory is built to be welcoming and appealing all year round, you can expect to start using it over the New Year period as well.
There is also the question of being able to save 2.5% on your new DIY conservatory if you buy it now. The rate of VAT has been temporarily reduced for the last year and it is going back up again in January. So if you were thinking of buying your new conservatory next year you would be paying that bit more for it. And the savings if you buy now – even on a basic construction – would be in the low three figures.
There are other advantages to building a new conservatory over the Christmas period as well. Many people take time off work at this time of year, and if you have more than a couple of days off you will probably get to the stage where you start feeling bored.
So what better time could there be to start putting the conservatory together? Provided you have everything you need and you can get some help from friends and family to help you out, a DIY conservatory is more than just a possibility at this time of year – it could be a certainty.
Finally if you ever needed a reason to avoid spending Christmas with the in laws, or with any other members of the family you don’t get on with for the rest of the year, this is a good one. It takes time to put a conservatory together, and having to allocate a few days to do just that could get you out of that awkward dinner you never like attending.
As you can see, while putting up a DIY conservatory over the Christmas period sounds a bit strange to begin with, it could actually be one of the best times of the year to do it!
